Data retention and deletion

We keep information only as long as we need it for your service or as the law requires.

How long we keep things

  • Enquiries that don't become clients: deleted within 2 years of the last contact.
  • Client business and tax records: generally 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as the Canada Revenue Agency requires.
  • Signed agreements and authorizations: for as long as you are a client, then 6 years.
  • Sign-in codes: expire after 10 minutes.
  • Consent and activity records: kept as long as the related account or records.

When you leave

You can ask for a copy of your documents before we close your account. After the retention period, records are deleted from our systems.

Asking for deletion

Email admin@averonaccounting.ca. We'll confirm who you are, delete what we're allowed to, and tell you if anything must be kept longer by law and for how long.

Talk to a real bookkeeper today

Call or text 250-261-9879 — a Fraser Valley bookkeeper answers, and we reply within one business day.

We live, work, and serve clients on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Stó:lō Nation — including the Semá:th, Matheqwí, Kwantlen, Katzie, Sumas, and Leq'á:mel Peoples — across what is now known as the Fraser Valley. We're grateful to do business on this land and committed to respectful, reciprocal relationships with the First Nations communities who have stewarded it since time immemorial.
