Nonprofit & community organizations

Clear books. More time for your mission.

Running a nonprofit means making every dollar count while keeping your community at the centre of your work. Averon Accounting offers practical bookkeeping support to help your team maintain organized records, understand its finances, and prepare for reporting deadlines.

We're based in Abbotsford and work with organizations across the Fraser Valley in person — and with organizations anywhere in Canada online.

What we can take on

Bookkeeping support, with the scope agreed after our first conversation.

Averon Accounting provides bookkeeping support. We do not offer audit or assurance services, legal advice, charitable-status applications, official donation-receipt issuance, or T3010 / T1044 filing. Not every nonprofit is a registered charity, and only organizations with charitable registration can issue official donation receipts — we'll work within whatever applies to your organization.

Who this is for

Organizations doing a lot with a small team.

  • Small community organizations
  • Volunteer-led associations
  • Clubs and member groups
  • Arts and cultural organizations
  • Registered charities looking for bookkeeping support

Where the bookkeeping usually gets stuck

  • • A volunteer treasurer handing over partway through the year
  • • Records spread across spreadsheets, email and paper
  • • No clear view of income and costs by program
  • • Pulling financial information together before each board meeting
  • • Finding the supporting documents a funding report asks for

How it works

Three simple steps to get started.

Step 1

Tell us about your organization

Your funding, software, reporting deadlines and who currently keeps the books.

Step 2

Agree on scope and fee

We confirm in writing what we handle, what stays with your team, and the monthly fee — before any work starts.

Step 3

Get organized records

Reconciled books and financial summaries on the schedule we agree, ready for management and the board.

Our commitment to community organizations

We believe community organizations deserve clear financial information, respectful service, and a bookkeeping scope that reflects their needs. Our approach starts with understanding your mission, your resources, and the reporting responsibilities your team manages.

Fees

Quoted for your organization, confirmed up front.

Your fee depends on transaction volume, the number of bank and card accounts, how many programs or funding streams need tracking, payroll requirements, how often you need reporting, and any catch-up work needed to bring records current. We confirm the fee in writing before work begins — and where a funding report or specialized format is involved, we review the requirements with you first rather than promising an outcome.

FAQ

Nonprofit bookkeeping questions

What boards and treasurers ask us before we start.

Yes. We can handle the day-to-day recording and reconciliations while your treasurer keeps oversight, or simply pick up the parts they don't have time for. We'll agree in writing who does what so nothing falls between us.

Yes. We can set up your accounts so income and costs are tracked by program, project or funder, and record restricted funding according to the requirements you provide us in writing.

Yes. Catch-up and cleanup work is common when a treasurer changes. We review how far behind the records are, quote the cleanup separately from your monthly fee, and rebuild from bank statements and source documents.

We prepare organized year-end records and supporting schedules for your accountant or auditor to work from. We don't perform audits or provide assurance — that work stays with your professional accountant.

Yes. We're based in Abbotsford and meet Fraser Valley organizations in person, and we work with organizations elsewhere in Canada entirely online through QuickBooks Online or Xero.

It depends on transaction volume, the number of accounts, how many programs or funding streams you track, payroll requirements, how often you need reporting, and any catch-up work. We confirm the fee before work begins.

We live, work, and serve clients on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Stó:lō Nation — including the Semá:th, Matheqwí, Kwantlen, Katzie, Sumas, and Leq'á:mel Peoples — across what is now known as the Fraser Valley. We're grateful to do business on this land and committed to respectful, reciprocal relationships with the First Nations communities who have stewarded it since time immemorial.
